A round-up of the latest private markets people moves globally

Limited partners
  • Japan-based Astellas Pharma has named Nahrin Marino as General Counsel and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer. She was most recently Head of Legal and has been with Astellas since 2010.

  • US-based Brown University Investment Office will name Joshua Kennedy as CIO and Peter Levine as Deputy CIO at year-end, following Jane Dietze’s departure. Kennedy is currently Deputy CIO, while Levine is a Managing Director.

  • Texas public pension fund City of Austin Employees’ Retirement System has appointed Jaime Aguirre as Director of Private Equity. He joins from Atlas Capital Global, where he was CIO.

  • US-based PGA Tour has appointed John Fizer as Senior Vice President, Investor Relations. He joins from Mill Hill, where he was CIO.

  • Australia-based QBE Insurance Group will appoint Jonathan Groves as CEO, Australia Pacific, in November. He currently serves as CEO and Managing Director of QBE Pacific and has been with the insurer for more than 13 years.


General partners
  • Boston-based .406 Ventures has promoted Kathryn Taylor Reddy from Principal to Partner. She joined in 2021 and previously invested in healthcare at BPEA and Excel Venture Management.

  • US-based healthcare-focused private equity firm Amulet Capital has promoted Sam Brinkley to Partner.

  • Sweden-based Atle Fund Management has named Jessica Malmfors as Chair and Jeanette Kangur as CEO. Both previously held leadership roles at Lannebo Fonder.

    Boston-based Berkshire Residential Investments has added Dana Hamilton as a Director. She was previously Head of Real Estate at Pretium.

  • UK-based Bluegem Capital Partners has named Ibrahim Najafi as Chief Transformation Officer and a member of its investment committee. He was previously CEO of Froneri.

  • New York-based Brown Brothers Harriman will name Kevin W. Stone as Managing Partner in January, succeeding William B. Tyree. Stone is currently CFO and a Partner and has spent 34 years at the firm.

  • Spain-based Buenavista Equity Partners has named Enrique Centelles Satrústegui as CEO. He has around 25 years of private equity experience across primaries, secondaries, and co-investments.

  • US-based Constitution Capital Partners has appointed Rich Schainker as a Managing Director to expand its defined contribution capabilities.

  • London-based CVC Marathon has promoted Karen Lau to Partner. She is a portfolio manager focused on leveraged loans and CLOs and joined the platform in 2022.

  • Sweden-based EQT has named Jimmy Mahtani as Chairman of GCC and appointed Head of Middle East Smiyet Belrhiti as Senior Executive Officer for the firm’s new Abu Dhabi office. Mahtani remains Chairman of India and Southeast Asia for EQT Private Capital.

  • New York-based Grafine Partners has named Suzanne Flannery as Managing Director, Head of Strategic Initiatives. She joins from Neuberger Berman, where she led its product marketing platform.

  • Grain Management has appointed Amran Hussein as General Counsel, based in New York. She joins from Paul, Weiss, where she spent 23 years advising private fund sponsors and had worked with Grain as outside counsel for more than a decade.

  • Chicago-based Harrison Street Asset Management has named Jon Glass as a Managing Director in its healthcare real estate asset management platform.

  • Heitman has appointed John Lee as Head of Sales, Korea, based in Seoul. He previously led the global investment team at Koramco Asset Management.

  • US-based Hercules Capital has appointed Alfred B. Fichera as an Independent Director. He spent nearly four decades at KPMG, including as Global Head of Alternative Investments.

  • Maryland-based ImpactAssets Capital Partners has appointed Annie Chor Joyce as Managing Director, Head of Client Solutions, and Eric Stephenson as Managing Director, Investment Strategies.

  • New York-based Lux Capital has hired Sarah Hess and Mia Krishnamurthy as investment Partners, and Mahi Joshi as Partner, Capital Formation. Hess joins from Point72 Ventures, Krishnamurthy from CRV, and Joshi from Evercore's private funds group.

  • US-based venture capital firm Owl Ventures has named Chris Paul as Venture Partner. The NBA veteran and investor previously served eight years as president of the National Basketball Players Association.

  • Los Angeles-based Pacific Avenue Capital Partners has named Amy Rice as COO and hired Jimmy Sourbeer as Principal. Rice joins after 17 years at Oaktree Capital Management, while Sourbeer comes from SAIGroup, where he focused on technology carve-outs.

  • Chicago-based private equity firm Periscope Equity has promoted Eric Hinkle to Partner. He joined the firm in 2017.

  • Proterra Investment Partners, based in Minneapolis, has hired Jennie Park as Head of Capital Formation and named Matt Coad as Head of Investor Solutions. Park joins from H.I.G. Capital, where she worked on capital raising and investor relations across North American credit strategies.

  • Virginia-based Quad-C Management has brought on Dan Soroka as Managing Director, Portfolio Optimization - Supply Chain. He joins from Graham Partners, where he was Senior Operating Partner, Supply Chain and Real Estate.

  • New York-based Rithm Capital has appointed Ann DeVries as Head of Investor Relations. She joins from Banc of California, where she led strategic finance and investor relations.

  • California-based TriplePoint Capital will make Jim Labe sole CEO and appoint Ian Schworer as CIO at year-end, when co-founder Sajal Srivastava departs. Schworer is currently Chief Credit Officer, US.

  • Vector Capital, based in San Francisco, has appointed Kiran Rao as Managing Director and Head of Value Creation. He joins from Vista Equity Partners, where he led portfolio operations.

Legal
  • Debevoise & Plimpton has added Abigail Lane as a Partner in New York and Mary Lavelle as a Partner in London. Lane focuses on executive compensation and governance matters in private equity transactions, while Lavelle focuses on private fund transactions and secondaries.

  • Gibson Dunn has brought on Andrew Hogan as a Partner in New York, Noah Hansford as a Partner in Dallas, and Terrie Khoshbin as Senior Counsel in Dallas. Hogan focuses on fund finance, including subscription, NAV, hybrid, and structured facilities. Hansford and Khoshbin advise on real estate and digital infrastructure matters, including data center development, leasing, and operations.

  • Greenberg Traurig has hired Sofiya Bumagin as a Shareholder in London. She joins from Sidley Austin and focuses on infrastructure M&A, including energy transition and digital infrastructure transactions.

  • Hogan Lovells Cadwalader has appointed Barbara Schwartz as Head of UAE Tax in Dubai, and brought on two new partners: Morgan Frisoli in Boston, and Jakarri Hamlin in Los Angeles. Schwartz focuses on private capital, real estate, and infrastructure structuring and tax matters. Frisoli joins from Goodwin Procter and advises on compensation and benefits matters arising from corporate transactions. Hamlin joins from Mayer Brown and focuses on fund finance and structured finance.

  • Latham & Watkins has added Victor Levy as a Partner in Paris. He joins from Hogan Lovells Cadwalader and focuses on merger control and competition matters.

  • Sullivan & Cromwell has hired Hamed Meshki, Luke Guerra, Guirgis Nasief, and Y. Michael Chung as Partners in Los Angeles and New York. Meshki will lead the firm’s global private equity practice.

  • Ropes & Gray has hired Edward Downer as a Partner in London, focused on restructuring, liability management, and insolvency matters.

  • Sidley Austin has brought on James Schneider as a Partner in its Miami energy, transportation, and infrastructure practice. He joins from Squire Patton Boggs, where he worked in debt finance.

  • Weil, Gotshal & Manges added Olga Stürmer as a Partner in Frankfurt in its German private equity practice. Her work includes private equity, M&A, and credit-driven special situations.

  • White & Case has added Sarah Remmer Long as a Partner in New York. She advises on executive compensation matters arising from M&A and other corporate transactions.

  • Willkie Farr & Gallagher has hired Shreyas Jhaveri as a Partner in New York and added James Grice, Bruce Lowry, Michael McKinley, and Thu Pham as real estate Partners in Dallas. Jhaveri joins from Kirkland & Ellis and focuses on private funds, including private credit and secondaries; Grice will chair the firm’s digital infrastructure and data center practice.

  • London-based Belasko has appointed Edwin Chan as Chief Growth Officer for Private Markets.

  • IQ-EQ promoted Anil Ponnampalam to Managing Director, Fund Platform and Solutions, APAC and Middle East. He was most recently Head of Business and Investments, Private Markets.


Advisory
  • Professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Danny Van D'huynslager as a Managing Director in its private equity performance improvement practice in Brussels. He focuses on post-deal transformation and interim management.

  • Houlihan Lokey named Prabha Sipi Bhandari as Chief Legal Officer, succeeding Christopher Crain.

  • New Zealand-based ASB Bank will appoint Sinead Taylor as CEO in December, succeeding Vittoria Shortt. Taylor joins from Commonwealth Bank of Australia, where she leads institutional banking and markets; Shortt will step down after nearly nine years.

  • Avendus Wealth Management has named Umang Papneja as Executive Vice Chairman and CEO. He joins from Julius Baer India, where he was CEO.

  • Geneva-based Bordier & Cie has named Nicolas Porchet as Managing Partner. He joined the firm in 2019 as Head of Business Development and has more than 25 years of private banking experience.

  • FTI Consulting has appointed Eileen Fargis as a Senior Managing Director in its power, renewables, and energy transition practice in New York.

  • Gordon Brothers has brought on Tron Allen as a Senior Managing Director in Texas, focused on business development across the firm.

  • J.P. Morgan has brought on Seth Corder in its Venture Capital Coverage team. He has spent his career in the venture ecosystem and will relocate to the Bay Area later this year.

  • Moelis & Company has hired Matthew Rosedale as a Managing Director in London to co-lead its European financial sponsors business. He joins from Jefferies.

  • US-based investment bank Noble Capital Markets has added Edward Rubin as a Managing Director. He has more than 30 years of transactional experience.

  • Raymond James Financial will put COO Scott Curtis in charge of its bank segment in January. Steve Raney, the segment's President, will move into an executive consulting role.

  • Solomon Partners has appointed Jorge Mora as Vice Chairman, focused on origination, business development, and private equity relationships.

  • Singapore-based StashAway has named Nandini Joshi as CEO. She was most recently Deputy CEO and succeeds co-founder Michele Ferrario, who has moved to Chairman.

  • Stifel has hired Chris Morrison and Matthew Scott as Managing Directors in venture banking and Arianne Perry as Managing Director, Venture Capital Coverage. Morrison is based in Boston, while Scott and Perry are in New York.

  • William Blair has hired William Nay as a Managing Director in its financial services investment banking team in Atlanta, focused on insurance distribution.


Industry associations
  • Managed Funds Association has hired Bryson Kern as Vice President & Senior Counsel, Regulatory Affairs. He joins from McDermott Will & Schulte, where he was a Tax Knowledge Management Attorney, after around a decade at Schulte Roth & Zabel.
