Natural Resources Q2 2022: Preqin Quarterly Update

The Russian invasion of Ukraine, and ensuing unprecedented sanctions on Russia have left a massive gap in global commodities markets, particularly energy. Natural resources funds raised $51bn in Q2 2022, almost $20bn higher than in Q2 2021. Latest performance data shows stellar returns for the asset class, with one-year IRR figures for the period ending December 2021 standing at 34.5%, only 0.3 percentage points below private equity.
