Based in Wellington, New Zealand, and founded in 2018 by its CEO David Moodie, Foundry Lab operates as a developer of digital metal casting In November 2021, Foundry Lab raised USD 8 million in series A funding led by Blackbird, with GD1 and Founders Fund. As of 2021, the company has 17 full-time employees. The company's platform offers a digital metal casting system that automatically generates parts from CAD files, compatible with aluminum, magnesium, zinc, stainless steel, and their casting alloys, and enables the production of metal parts from design to finish in one day. Foundry Lab will use the series A funding to increase team with roles in microwave engineering, mechatronics, mechanical, simulation, and software engineering.
And the company also plans to expand its markets in the United States and Europe.
