Based in Berlin, Germany, and founded by Niklas Östberg(CEO) in 2008, Delivery Hero SE operates an internet platform that enables online food ordering, and other delivery services across 50 countries in Asia, South America, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Europe. In April 2026, new investor Uber Technologies Inc. acquired a minority stake in Delivery Hero SE from Prosus Ventures for USD 318 million. Delivery Hero provides an online platform for customers, delivery personnel, store owner, and restaurant owners to order, deliver, and manage orders.
The company allows customers to place their order either through a website or mobile application and allows them to make payment through both cash and online payment. Customers' orders are delivered either by Delivery Hero’s riders or by the partner restaurants on their own. In addition, the company also offers food packaging and advertising for restaurants. The acquisition enables Uber to increase its ownership stake in Delivery Hero, giving it greater financial exposure to a major global food delivery platform without operating control.
